Metis Spring Fling in Chicago!
April 28, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
We invite you to join us Friday, April 28th for our Spring Fling — an evening of networking with data scientists and other data enthusiasts in the area.
We’ll be hanging out from 5:30pm-8pm in our Chicago office and events space, enjoying food and drinks. Meet current bootcamp students, recent alumni, and Metis staff, as well as others from around Chicago who are interested in and/or working in data-related fields.
Meet Zach Miller: Zach is one of the Metis instructors for the current Spring cohort in Chicago! He will be on hand at the event for questions and conversation.
Zach has spent the last eight years collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data from particle accelerators all over the U.S., putting to use his PhD in nuclear physics. He’s helped pioneer statistical analysis, simulation, and data collection techniques to make measurements from hundreds of terabytes of physics data. During these efforts, Zach has worked with Los Alamos National Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, the University of Kentucky Accelerator Lab, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. His passion is combining technical and programming skills with the educational chops he developed as a professor in order to create an intuitive, hands-on learning experience.
