Datascope Analytics, Partner and Data Scientist
Metis, Instructor and Corporate Trainer
Irmak is a co-designer and former co-instructor of the Metis data science bootcamp. He continues to actively advise Metis and assist with its corporate training.
Irmak is a data scientist at Datascope Analytics. Before working there, he conducted and published academic research on a wide range of topics, including student choices in public schools, web browsing behavior of masses, global airline networks, species conservation in ecology, language topic models, DNA sequences for high gene expression, among others. Technically, Irmak is a Material Scientist (BS and MS, Sabanci University, Turkey), Chemical and Biological Engineer (MS and PhD, Northwestern University) and an Art Historian (Minor, Sabanci University). Practically, he believes in merging knowledge from different disciplines to solve business problems with innovative ways of using data. When he is not striving for this, he believes in movies, bourbon, and Elliott Smith.
Metis Co-Founder and President
For almost 20 years, Jason has worked in education. From founding a nonprofit organization in New Orleans to working at companies such as McKinsey & Company, Scholastic, Kaplan, and now Metis (a part of Kaplan), he has sought opportunities to build businesses and work with exceptional teams on creating transformative learning experiences and products. He spends most his time at Metis (1) ensuring the quality of the student experience and outcome; (2) developing the roadmap and building the team to grow the business, and (3) engaging with data scientists around the country with whom Metis can collaborate.
Data Scientist, GrubHub
Metis Data Science Bootcamp Graduate
As a Northwestern math major with a background in bond trading, numbers have always made sense for Yong. But it was an inclination for practicality and adding value with data that ultimately drew Yong to the field of data science. After honing his skills for analyzing and visualizing interesting data sets at Metis, Yong has been working as a Data Scientist at GrubHub, where he gets to solve interesting business questions and uncover a variety of insights every day. Even outside of work, Yong is always searching for opportunities that will allow him to collectively utilize math and programming in a creative context.

Metis Data Science Bootcamp Graduate
Jess is a Data Scientist at Datascope Analytics. Before joining Datascope, Jess was a data scientist consultant with IBM Advanced Analytics and Watson Experience where she was part of the ideation and execution of advanced analytics engagements for global Fortune 500 clients across industries. After receiving her BA in Psychology from New York University, she taught herself to code COBOL and worked more than four years in trade finance supporting an international client base. Outside of Datascope, Jess loves to tinker and create, whether that means whipping up something new in the kitchen, DIY-ing a costume or getting down and dirty with her latest home improvement project.
