Livestream: How Biomimicry is Inspiring AI
February 13, 2018 @ 8:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Watch via Livestream:
This Meetup will be a discussion on how biomimetic design can inspire what we teach artificially intelligent machines. The talk will begin with an overview of the key differences between the features of modern machine learning architectures and those of the human mind. We will briefly look at the history of the field of AI as well as other branches of science through the lens of biomimicry and will explore how this lens can be used to generate further advances. Finally, we will discuss the implications of this novel approach to scientific discovery in general.
Tanya Grinberg will be speaking, she is the head of AI development at Symbiokinetics. She is working on reverse engineering the human learning algorithm to build AI-aided human-hardware interfaces aimed at high-performance learning. Her research interests include symbol grounding/ontology identification problem, value learning, signal processing and reinforcement learning.
Symbiokinetics is a human-centric AI and robotics company with the goal of optimizing human learning. We believe that the human mind is a vastly untapped resource which can outperform AI in any dynamic problem-solving scenario if used to its full capacity. Symbiokinetics technology is addressing AI risk and automation-driven job displacement by driving human performance to its true potential via AI-assisted adaptive learning.
This Meetup is brought to you by IBM and Metis.
IBM Index will be taking place from Feb 20 – 22 at Moscone West. This is an open developer community conference. Attend and learn the latest software development practices and techniques to advance your skills and develop your career. This event will be provided free of charge to all students.
Metis (thisismetis.com) accelerates careers in data science by providing full-time immersive bootcamps, evening part-time professional development courses, online resources, and corporate programs based in Seattle, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.
