Bootcamp Alumni Lightning Talks: Demo’ing What You Can Accomplish in 12 Weeks
May 3 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
We invite you to join us Wednesday, May 3rd from 6:30 – 8:30 pm to meet the instructors, students, and alumni of our Data Science Bootcamp.
Enjoy food and drinks as 3 recent bootcamp graduates give lightning talks and present the final projects they were able to create during their 12 weeks at Metis.
Lightning Talk Topics:
Tiffany Li: Do you ever eat something and wish you could know more about what you’re eating, like the nutrient breakdown? Tiffany’s application, BiteSnap, uses image recognition to help you to “get to know your food.”
Ana-Elisa Gentle: Biking is a great way to bring communities together, Ana chose to analyze Divvy’s Bikeshare Ridership and used predictive modeling to suggest ways Divvy can increase ridership moving forward.
Masa Kato: When considering his passion project, Masa realized that voice recognition applications like Siri don’t always effectively serve the hearing impaired. Through the use of convolutional neural networks, Masa created an application for sign language recognition.
Metis Sr. Data Scientists David Ziganto, Seth Weidman, and Zach Miller will also be on hand to discuss the bootcamp structure and outcomes and answer any questions you may have. Ashley Purdy, Metis Career Advisor, will touch upon the career support process, and Nathan Vermeiren, Program Manager, will also be present to take questions.
So come meet our awesome Chicago team, hear from recent grads, and enjoy a night of learning and networking!
