Are You What You Wear? An Exploration of Ethnography and the Fashion Industry
July 19, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Join us for an interactive session on ethnography applied to the fashion industry. Vyjayanthi Vadrevu, Senior Researcher at Conifer Research, will use sample methodologies from research projects on fashion to help Action Designers reconnect with being on the other side of research. She will also share lessons learned from a study on the changing nature of women’s clothing in and out of the workplace, and how retailers catering to the working woman are now struggling to find their voice as the voice of the working woman becomes louder, more diverse, and more casual.
Here’s the schedule:
6:30 PM – Free food and drinks while networking
7:00 to 8:00 PM – Talk and discussion
Location: WeWork River North – 111 W Illinois St.
Here’s more about Vyjayanthi:
Vyjayanthi Vadrevu is a Senior Research Associate at Conifer Research here in Chicago. Previously, she worked as an independent ethnographer and consultant in NYC and Austin, collaborating on projects such as retooling internal reporting systems for banks and creating the product development design principles for a navigation device to assist the visually impaired. She co-launched the Hidden in Plain Sight (HiPS) Meetup in NYC, which explores the current and future applications of the behavioral and social sciences to solve real-world problems through monthly meetups.
Conifer Research drives innovation by gathering data that’s hard to get, identifying patterns, creating frameworks, testing prototypes and pioneering ways to generate long-term value from ethnographic research.
